Table #1: Stone and Raw Steel

Thierry Urbain’s Babylon series unapologetically re-conceptualizes the legendary city’s spaces through model making and photography.  Through this process, the palaces, courts and libraries are re-imagined as dream-like, stark, monumental spaces based on a kit of parts composed of the gate, the arcade, the plaza etc.

What if this visual language was synthesized into shapes severed and reborn from their architectural connotation?

Inspired by the work of Urbain, Table #1 is composed of planes, openings and overlaps that recall the idea of Babylon as if from a distant memory; allowing us to evaluate the fragility and malleability of remembrance itself.
